It has been said on this site that the Alexander bodied appliances, although they looked very nice, were not very well constructed and were quite disliked by those who rode them.

What was the crews' opinion of the Alexander bodied Dennis machines? Northland had one which the Station Officer described as "embarrassingly slow"

Martin: I am not sure the relevant expletives should be repeated on this site! The criticisms were quite numerous and varied, and seemed mainly to have been concerned with the build quality of the cab and bodywork. It seems they were built to a very limited budget, and - although they resembled the famous, but very expensive, HCB Angus safety cab appliances - they were comparatively poorly constructed.
