Tyne Tees Run 2008 - Dennis D, 1979

This Dennis D was new to the Devon Fire Brigade.It is fitted with a Perkins straight six diesel engine, rather than the Jaguar petrol engine which they are usually remembered by. Behind is a Dennis DF133 Magirus TL.

I once managed a Leyland International NATO production plant in Belgium which built tracked APVs, which were powered by the same Jaguar 4.2 liter engine that Dennis installed in their D series.

If fire services had the same problems with these engines that we had, then Devon should have been grateful they had Perkins diesels!
