Yes, you are right, it's a re-baged MAN, if you look at UK appliances, some ERF appliances use the MAN cab and the new Volvo shares it's cab with Daf and Renault.

Lots of companies are pooling together to cut design costs etc, one day all fire appliances will end up looking the same, with a normal truck cab/ chassis instead of a purpose built appliance.

Cheaper yes, better, no, look at the stability of the carp appliances and the reliability too.

I think that man is imported in poland as a star, just like vauxall and opel in GB

Actually, it is nothing more than a MAN 12.xxx with a different grill and a 'Star' logo. These are often reffered to as Starman, Star-Man, Star/MAN, Staroman, etc. The Polish medium truck manufacturer Star was taken over by MAN in 1999, and all the non-military trucks built since then were MAN-based. The production of Stars was suspended a few times, and the future of MAN vehicles with the 'Star' logo is uncertain.

The above model - a medium pump (2500l of water, 2500l/min pump, should have a 250l foam concentrate tank, but because Brasiu did not mention it, it may well not have one) made by Stolarczyk of Kielce - has been hugely popular with the volunteer fire services, which tend to have limited resources, but at the same time are in desperate need of new equipment. One of these would cost around 350 000 PLN (about 170 000 USD, 75 000 GBP), which is a bargain. This simple, robust and reliable vehicle is a remedy for ageing equipment among vontunteer services, but it has some serious flaws. The volunteers are the ones who have to go off-road the most to battle grass and forest fires, reach various incidents in remote locations, etc. As one can see, this is not a vehicle that is made for rough terrain. But some units just cannot cough up another 100-150 000 PLN for a basic 4x4 appliance. What's more, don't count on BAs (or anything else) in the cab. And if you would open the shutters, the question you would like to ask the manufacturers would probably be: 'have you lot ever heard of ergonomics?'. More ambitious units send these to the competition for an overhaul just after receiving them...which speaks for itself...
