Not everyone had to ride outside in those cold Michigan winters. Beautiful sedan-body engine. I presume it is just a pump-and-hose combination, 1000 gpm ? Was it also used for transferring crews? Good detail on the Roto Rays Warning Light [the 3 red lamps] patented 1930 by the Buckeye Iron & Brass Works. Pavel - alas, I believe "Sweetheart Grille" just refers to the top shape of the radiator grille - resembles the St Valentine's Day heart. Regards,
I think this is one of the most magnificent apparatus that Seagrave ever built - - a real gem. (I collect model fire apparatus and wish they made this one) I'm a retired volunteer fire chief and taught fire school for State of Ohio for many years. Model and photos are now my hobby
Dan-model collecting.I've collected models for some 40 years and I'm shocked that this actual appliance in model form is not available to you in the USA. Gorgi Collectables have produced a set called the'Seagrave Anniversary Pumper' which is simular to this photo and consists of an all enclosed pumper, another a half-cab pumper showing hosereels and also a Seagrave Tillered Ladder.Gorgi have produced them in many liveries and designs since the original releases. Why not checkout the Gorgi site for more information.....Pete(UK).

Dear Pete, I visited your wonderful country several years ago - - really like England and saw some of your equipment. Thanks for the tip about Gorgi - - will definitely check into it. Dan
Pete, My model collection covers the time period of 1900 through the mid-1950's. I want the 1938/39 Safety sedan Seagrave. I found the 1950's and will order it tomorrow; still want the 1938/39 model. Dan
Dan, good luck with your model collection, I hope the Gorgi site was of some interest to you and you can find at least something you like, Pete.

The Detroit Firemen's Benevolent Assc. is midway through the memorial rig project. (1936-37) Detroit Seagrave Safety Sedan. It is to be used as a funeral rig for Michigan line of duty deaths. As I write this it is awaiting transport to the paint facility. Anyway we are planning on authorizing a scale model when it is completed.
I found and purchased the Corgi Seagrave safety sedan "squad" modeled after the Tenafly, N.J rig (it is white in color) but still cannot locate the #US50504 red Detroit pumper
besite the Detroit Seagrave Safety sedan, there is a set with hold a Detroit Seagrave Safety Sedan pumper and a Seagrave Safety Sedan Tillered ladder. I have them in my collection of models.
Geez, Pete, what a Fount of Knowledge you are. Much appreciated.
Does anyone have a photo of the Seagrave Safety Sedan Tillered Aerial(TTL)Ladder, to put in here for us, to enjoy ? That will have to be some bee-yoo-tiful rig.
Louis, or, Pete; even a macro photo of your Corgi model would be great.
I hunted through this 'Site; only Seagrave Tiller Ladder is Picture # 190 - Honolulu, Hawaii - a later truck than the Safety Sedan, which also carries a Surf-Board - worth seeing, in its own right.
IK purchased the 70th Anniversay model of the Seagrave tillered ladder- - very nice model but still can't locate (even of Ebay) my Seagrave Safey Sedan pumper - - this is frustrating!
Hello everyone: Since my last posting I have purchased the tillered aerial and the canopy Seagrave but still can't find the safety-sedan pumper; surely someone has one for sale one would think eventhough it is discontinued by Corgi.
Raven Payne - - - I have the tillered aerial and the canopy Seagraves and the whitge colored squad - - all I need is Detroit Safety Sedan/Corgi #US50504. Dan E. Boyd
I'd be curious to see more photos detailing the interior of this pump sedan. How was it laid out, how much hose did it have, and what equipment did it carry? Past that nice looking vehilce.
To David L: It is my understanding that it carried the standard 24" ladder set, the two hard tubes, and 1200 feet of 2 1/2" and a 100 booster tank. The hydrant sleeve was preconnected to the front big-way intake and flaked back over the curb-pside fender in a braket - - it is beautiful. Dan
War Department stopped Seagrave from making the safety sedan when WWII started - - used too much metal. These are really great and they'll sell like gold hotcakes. Dan
Finally - - August 2011 - - call off the hounds, I have the fox - -it was discovered on eBay and I bought it and it's on its way to me. thanks to all that helped me find it. Dan E. Boyd
