I believe Karlsruhe was the first German fire service to start buying Scania trucks at a time quite a few years ago, when it was extremely rare for any of them to acquire vehicles from countries outside Germany. Although the city is famous for its enormous Neoplan double decker incident control unit (illustrated on this site) the rest of its firefighting fleet is now dominated by Scania. Many other German cities have also added Scanias to their rosters in recent years and they have even turned up in Paris!
