The older TLF 5000 water tender was on a 16 ton chassis, which left a rather limited additional weight allowance for other items.
With the increased GVW and a 1000 litrt reduction in the tank size, nearly three tons of capacity was added for a much more comprehensive equipment load - illustrated in this photo by the full set of side lockers. As the TLF 5000 disappeared, some brigades started buying the tandem axle GTLF, which has 10,000 to 12,000 litres on board, and often has a high capacity pump and a foam system too.

This community has a population of 13, 600 and is served by three volunteer fire stations staffed by a total of 126 operational on call firefighters. There are no paid staff. The fleet includes a rescue pumper, three additional pumpers, this water tender, two logistics trucks, a command vehicle and a manpower squad van. As with other German fire services, the logistics units can be deployed with a wide variety of standard sized pre-loaded wheeled baskets, enabling them to respond in several different specialized roles, according to to the type of incident. These include most kinds of rescue situations, fires requiring foam or BA support, extra light and/ or ventilation, flooding, hazmat incidents and overhaul or recovery missions. This year so far they have responded to 89 incidents.
