6X2 rear steer chassis, with very low ground clearance, obviously intended for urban use rather than to support off road operations.
Although Japanese truck builders may offer this chassis configuration, I have never come across one. This may be why TFD specified Mercedes.

TFD have also bought a small number of Mercedes Unimogs, once again because Japanese manufacturers did not offer any comparable alternatives.

TFD also acquired a series of Rosenbauer TTL, first was dispatched for the Olympic games 2020.
TFD had already several Metz TTL in the 50' & 60'.
Later on, Magirus was chosen for decades.

The more recent imported TTLs bought by TFD were on the same Mercedes Econic 6X2 rear steering chassis as these tankers, but with the low profile cab. Perhaps also specified because they wanted this same impressive level of maneuverability on both their ladders and tankers. Having spent time in Tokyo, with its numerous tiny side streets and alleys I can understand why…
