BSPP has operated combinations like this for decades. Staffed by a total of ten, they respond to serious - or potentially serious - fires. As well as a fully equipped heavy pumper, the second vehicle contains foam making equipment, a 2,000 litre supply of foam compound and over 1,000 metres of 110mm LDH.

Thanks. I did mean to write over 3,000 metres, but either my finger was too fat or my mind was elsewhere! The FA specifications have been unchanged for quite a while now, so the BSPP must be pretty happy with this dual role design. At one point the FA seemed to be moving more towards a roll on/roll off container setup, but they are perhaps now reversing this approach?

Yes, CA pods/containers were introduced called "Appuis Grand Feux", mainly based in suburbs FS. Pods are difficult to operate in Paris' center.
