Note the French style self protection nozzles built into the roll cage, as well as the “sparge pipe” under the front bumper. Unlike most French brush trucks, this example does not seem to have a monitor, although it could be folded on the roof behind the cab. A recent trend has been to have the monitor on the front of the truck, as it is easier for the driver to see where the water or foam is going if it is in pump- and- roll mode. Firefighting Unimogs have a gearbox which permits the pump PTO to be operated while the vehicle is on the move in low four wheel drive gear, which makes it very easy to operate on the move if necessary.
