The same chassis was used for the Dinky Supertoys French turntable ladder toy, but of course it had only one extension rather than four! This ladder was in fact the same as one the UK Bedford toy, which looked like a cross between a Magirus and a mechanical chain driven Metz

Petros - I think it was more like the Kent ones, as it did not have a pump.

This was a heavier Berliet model and chassis GCK 8. Paris and Strasbourg FD had 1 unit.

Extra tall ladders (and more recently platforms)have come into and gone out of fashion in many different countries over the past century, without much of a trend emerging in most places. Most recently they seem to have gained traction in third World cities, where building codes and build in fire protection in high rise buildings are sometimes rather inadequate- and of course now we are finding out that some Western cities are adding them for the same ( often unspoken) reason. Here in the US, where high rise fire safety has been a priority for a very long time, ladders over 33 metres are very rare, and are not included in the fleets of any major city anywhere. In Chicago the busiest CFD aerials are their 17 metre Snorkels!
