1973 Strand Road FS, Bootle, Merseyside. The Dinky Toy version was made nearby in Liverpool. Bootle had cursive writing unusually in its lettering. Compare with picture 22510.

The mid mount PTO driven pump was not a common sight on these Bedford Magirus ladders from the late 1950s.

After a bit of further research I believe this one was the only TLP on a Bedford S chassis. I also think the later TK ladders were all built without pumps, as the idea of fitting pumps on turntable ladders was dying out by the early sixties. In other countries TLPs seem to have died out even earlier, except in the Americas, where the "quint" continues to be popular to this day, although they tend to be limited to smaller fire departments.
