Typical German 6x2 rear steered WLF transporter, with chubbier rear tires than are often fitted, to support extra weight. Originally introduced in Sweden, these rapidly became popular with German fire services (on German chassis, of course!) when they started to used tandem axle transporters for longer and heavier loads. Two axle trucks with rear steering are now also a lot more common, originally developed to improve aerial trucks’ maneuverability, but now fitted to some Econic urban pumpers and of course a standard feature on the Rosenbauer electric fire pump - which is also a 4X4 with four adjustable ground clearance settings. These are 1- load and unload, 2- paved road driving, 3- off road driving and 4- operating in flooded conditions.
