Odd position for that giant searchlight. Can’t have made it any easier for the driver to see what was coming at him from the left at a road junction.

Its been mentioned on one of the more active social media fire groups that this vehicle doesn't have a main pump, so isn't actually a pump escape. Instead it has a small water tank to supply the first aid hose reel. So in this case its an escape carrier.

The Merryweather pump at this time was a big reciprocating piston pump, with a giant air chamber on top of it. This example is clearly missing that rather conspicuous item!
