Brighton seemed to like these short wheelbase Dennis appliances, presumably because of their maneuverability; I seem to remember that their interestingly curvaceous central fire station had three or four at one time. The only disadvantage of this design was - as can be seen here - that if you were carrying a wheeled escape ladder access to the rear mounted pump was a bit of a problem.
Unlike the longer wheelbase variants, there was no space for a mid mounted pump, which was very common on the other Dennis appliances designed to carry an escape.
