Although most German fire stations with pod carriers have two ro three pods for each carrier, it is quite common for one or more of the carriers to be pre-loaded with a pod. This is done when at least one other carrier is empty, so that it can be loaded without taking off a pod, and where a specific pod is either frequently dispatched or a first responding unit, or both.
