The Gugumus ladder was the French counterpart to the British wheeled escape, except that it was usually 18 meters - while most British ladders were 15, although some 18 meter versions did exist.

This 2.5 ton Renault chassis was produced essentially unchanged from 1947 to 1965, and was used extensively by French fire services. It was officially marketed as the Galion after 1957.

As well as being used as a carrier for the Gugumus ladder, usually without a pump or water tank, it saw service as a light first aid pump (PS) and - in a 4X4 version - as a light brush truck.
