Ive just paid one of several visits I make to this site each day and found this photo in the random section.
Since I submitted this photo I've retired after just under 31 years as a firefighter. In addition to being a career Watch Commander I was also the paid on call Watch Commander at Pontyclun and rode as officer on this appliance numerous times. Talk about a blast from the past

Congratulations on your retirement - there is nothing so good!!!

This is a nice looking truck. How was it operationally? I noticed the horizontal ladder stowage. Did it have a European-style powered roof rack for the ladders and suctions? Another question: what is the red box-like item on the roof above the midships locker?

Amazing that the gantry was a problem. These were originally installed on pumpers in the Netherlands many years ago, and you would think they would have been "de-bugged" by now!
