Washington,DC FD, 1969 APC Tactical unit
Known as "Roughrider" this unit was placed in service in 1986 after a sniper incident.
The 1969 Army surplus Armored Personnel Carrier was equipped with a 1000gpm electric monitor. and was piped to a water intake on the rear.
By 1992, this unit had been replaced by another painted in the white paint scheme. This was parked at the training academy, likely furnishing parts to the one in service. Both lasted less than 10 years.
I do not know of any other vehicles like this in the American fire service.
