Thunder Bay Aerial Platforms Thunder Bay, Ontario had one of the first Bronto Aerial Platforms in operation in North America. Aerial Platform 1 was assembled by Anderson's Engineering way back and delivered in 1986. I remember seeing the bare chassis with the Bronto aerial assembly mounted on it after it had returned from Finland and didn't know what it was as I had no previous exposure to European Aerial Devices. In the early days, Anderson's shipped the bare chassis overseas where the Bronto platform was mounted then returned to Anderson's plant in Langley, B.C. where the body work and pump etc. would be installed. AP-1 is a 1986 Anderson International CO1958B with 1050 GPM pump, 300 gallon water tank and 90' (27/3) Bronto platform. This photo was taken in the summer of 2012, and after 26+ years in service, this truck will soon be replaced by a shiny new Sutphen Aerial Tower.
