The FD of the city of Marseille/France has this unit in service. It's especially designed for emergencies on the railway system. Built by CMAR on an Unimog U2150 body.
Marseille is unique in that the fire service is a battalion of marines, originally formed to protect the naval arsenal in this bustling port city in 1719 and broadened to include the entire city in 1816.
They have 17 fire stations and approximately 2, 400 full time staff, which is quite a large number for a city of 840, 000 inhabitants.
in addition to their fleet of Iveco, Renault and other Mercedes units, they have more than forty Unimogs of different sizes. Most of them are on the roster to contend with wildland interface fires in the hills and ravines which surround the inland perimeter of this port city. But they also operates several as special purpose appliances, like this interesting railroad unit.
