MAN was and still is the big favorite of the Berlin Feuerwehr, for both the full time and the numerous additional volunteer fire companies. Note the modern low profile MAN ladder next to it...

Berlin was also the first fire service anywhere to develop the rescue pumper concept. The earliest ones were for some reason not MAN, but Mercedes, also on special low profile chassis, although the service switched back to MAN a few years later...
