Garraf Oil Field foam tender Scania
Amdac Carmichael in Worcester have supplied this major foam tender built on American lines to the Garraf Oil Field in Asia. The tender is built on a Scania 6x4 c/w a CP28-6 man crew cab with a 400hp euro 4 engine and Allison automatic transmission. It has a massive 6.1m wheelbase and is 12 metres overall in length. It has a 9000 ltr foam tank;a 7600 lpm Waterous CR pump and Waterous TC20 driveline PTO. It features a US style top midship mount pump control panel; Foam pro Accumax multi point direct injection foam system (10 outlets)15 water foam deliveries including 2 x rear pre-connects, 2 x 70m pre-connected mid ship cross lays, 7600lpm Akron stream master roof turret, 8 x 2.5" deliveries and 2 x 5" high volume deliveries. It also has 2 x 6" rear high volume suction inlets, 4 x 6" side mounted high volume suction inlets and 6 x 2.5" inlets. There is also a lay flat hose bed for multiple lengths of 45, 64, 75 and 125mm hoses

Encouraging to see this example of good ideas from different corners of the World coming together in one firefighting vehicle. Reminds me of the Australian Mack pump escape on this site!
Sometimes I think it is a bit less encouraging to see how slow most national fire services can be, when it comes to taking advantage of other countries' ideas and products. I suppose it is typical public sector inertia, compared to the private sector's appetite for innovation.
