Picture shows 1 of 2 former Multistar ARP`s bought by Lothian and Borders FRS that were converted to driver training vehicles following concerns about the stability of the vehicles while cornering. This particular vehicle never entered service before having the booms removed and it becoming a driver training vehicle. The identical 08 plate Multistar was on the run for 4 weeks at Sighthill in Edinburgh before being withdrawn from service due to the stability issues.

Thanks for the info on what happened to these ARPs. The fire service really knows how to waste money!

I would suggest its more the persons tasked with spending that money that know how to waste it Richard !!

Hi Rick,
Are you saying that senior fire officers have no say when it comes to purchasing equipment?

Added by Richard Aston on 02 April 2013.
It's not that they don't have a say in the purchase of equipment. They let senior management know what they are looking for but the financial manager decides what would be better value at end of day as he/she controls the expenditure and not the fire officers.
