The Beetle was locally built in Brazil, and so popular that they were universally used as taxis as well as by every kind of public authority - quite a coup for a two door car with hardly any luggage space!
They were of course also extensively used as fire command cars, like this example, just as they had been in earlier years in both Germany and several other Northern European countries.
