Any idea of the Chassis No David ? the nearest I can get is 7975 with the original reg of KB 6794

The polished engine cover is amazing! Was this original or a later modification? Did the driver and OIC get issued with sunglasses?

Chrome bonnets are quite common over here particularly on 30's Ford V8's and the few Dennis and Leyland appliances that were imported. It was for the same reason that "blued" bonnets were common in the UK namely that the paint of the time did not stand up to high temperatures that deveoped when pumping for long periods.

Sorry for not responding earlier Barrie - yes the earliest registration I record is KB 6794 (although it would have carried an earlier registration than this at some point).

Thanks John - they do look great, and this example has been beautifully restored.

I really like many of the earlier Kiwi appliances. Local builders seem to have combined the best of some of the design features of both British and American approaches, and managed to combine elegance with practicality so well!

The Ford V8s are especially impressive. These beauties could really kick up some dust....
