Not sure whether it's an F7 or F8 (I'm kind of new to fire engines) - the only info I could find on it was a google search which came up with Lot details for an auction back in 1994 which stated it was a 1952 Dennis F7. Happy to be corrected of course.
It is a Dennis F8, which was purchased new by Devon County Fire Service. It spent most of its operational life where I was born and grew up in Bideford. The electric bell is not original and is located where the fog light used to be. The original electric bell was on the roof (offside). It is great to see it has been preserved. Amazing that both Bideford's F8s are still in preservation. The other one is STT 317. Brings back many happy memories of seeing both in action.
This has the dual high mounted side hose reels, which were an option. The standard build had a single reel fitted transversely at the rear, above the Dennis No 2 pump. The relocation of the hose reels meant that a portable pump could be carried above the built in pump, if desired. Another feature of quite a lot of F8s with dual reels was that they also had the optional 300 IG water tank, instead of the standard 200 IG one - bringing them closer to the full specification of a JCDD water tender.
