1936 Dennis Ace Fire Engine.
This 1936 Dennis Ace Pump(reg-FW9707)was new to the Lindsey County Fire Brigade and when finally sold in the 1960's it was purchased by the Immingham Storage Co for their Works Fire Brigade.The appliance was given to the works Managing Director on his retirement in 1974.
The appliance has taken part in the London to Brighton Historic Commercial Vehicle Society run on many occasions from 1977 to 1985,then became a static exhibit at Grimsthorpe Castle in Lincolnshire from 1997 and 2002.
From 2002 the appliance has been cared for in Essex,and this year for the 50th London to Brighton run on the 1st May,2011 was yet again entered.

Pete, I didn't see it on Brighton sea front either. Did you see 'Madeleine' the 1912 chain driven Belsize?
We decided not to stop at the Broadfield on the way to Brighton, but just pressed on in the 1914 Dennis which was new to the Greenall Whitley brewery. See picture 28041

Thankyou Ian.I could only add what information was written in the Official Programme so wasn't trying to mis-lead.The driver of the vehicle did say though it was an ex-Lincolnshire appliance.

Hi Barry, yes the 1912 Belsize/John Morris Pump Escape'Madeleine'originally supplied to the Southampton Fire Brigade stopped at Broadfield on its way to Brighton.
There were several of us trying to get a good picture on her on her own but people were just hanging around and just would'nt move though.This was somewhat annoying because it was actually the people who were actually riding on her that would'nt move.I did take a couple of pictures as she left Broadfield, the same people sitting on her still trying to protect her and hide her.
Now do I, or don't I send a picture in???.

Pete: I didn't for a moment think you were trying to mislead ! In all probability it survived until denationalisation of course, but it would presumabaly then go into Lindsey. Lincolnshire (as a combined county) didn't come into being until 1974.
