Seen at James Hall Transport Museum in pretty poor condition. Manufacturer unknown, would it be Merryweather?

This is the Merryweather Telescala escape ladder. Brunei Fire Brigade used to equip its Pump Escape (P.E) appliances with this escape ladder and it is used until the early 1980s. I will post the Brunei version later which shows both the escape and wheel section.

Definitely Merryweather. Could be prewar (later ladders had the carriage winding gear on the lever frame. Also the simple trunnion mounting was superseded by a better type in the 1950's. If they ever get fed up of it...

It is certainly a Merryweather escape but not the "Telescala". Telescala was the name applied to the companies wooden escapes. Its a Merryweather steel escape first introduced in the mid 1930's and available in 50 and 60ft lengths.
