Was this Land Rover owned by Ashdown Forest when it first came out of service?

Since posting this I have been reminded that it was PHB 644Y which went to Ashdown Forest.

This looks like yet another example of a Land Rover, which has ended up being seriously overloaded, with too much weight on the rear axle.

It seems to have been a common problem, and there are quite a few photos on this site which illustrate how brigades were tempted to load too much equipment and/or water on these...

Not to mention where the center of gravity ended up, given that the whole point of these was their off-road capability!

The gap between tyre and body looks quite even it appears to be on a slight gradient dipping into a grid.

Is this a Carmichael conversion with the pipe work in front of the n/s/r wheel?

Ed: the sister appliance referred to at picture 25186 is said on the caption to have a Saxon body.
