What's the history of the 2 appliances?.

How way Lloyd no good keeping it in there. It will seize up. Perhaps Preston Hall 2011 ?

MPT 741P (Durham County) went to Framwellgate Moor new (as was the norm at that time) before later serving at both Peterlee, and - later stil - Crook.
PHB 646Y was aGwent vehicle, that went to Brynmawr when new. It later served at Abertillery, passing to the newly formed South Wales FB in 1996.

PHB 646Y - 1982 Landrover Series 3, 109" 2.25 petrol engine. Served with Gwent Fire Brigade at Bryn Marr and Abertilery. Purchase in a split second off Ebay.

Currently undergoing work...

As for MPT 741P - Denis D series, Durham County Fire Brigade served at Crook.

Paul - I think there's more chance of him taking the SS thatn the D.

John - Its done a whole 25 foot in the last year... So theres very little mileage on them! Shame theyre still required.

I might just borrow it one day and take it for a joyride.

I have a picture of the sister Land Rover PHB 645Y when it was in service with the Bluebell Railway in Sussex. I will post a picture of it.

I guess that would have been with Pete then for the service. He has just had our TACR2 as well. They are operated by the CCF Squadron as we have a busy HLS. I would be interested in hearing any of 644s history if you know it.

PHB644Y - new in 1982 to Gwent Fire Brigade. One of a batch of 6 Landrover 109" Series 3 converted by Saxon. (PHB 642Y-647Y) All were fitted with a Front mounted electric Superwinch Ox from new (removed by the brigade at some point prior to disposal)

PHB 644Y was based at Usk for its entire working life. It was sold out of service in 1998/99.

Thanks, that is really good info. Do you know what happened to it between leaving Gwent and our aquisition three years ago? We got it from up north but in its folder it it had an MOT issued in Erith Kent which is not far from here.

PHB 644Y was bought out of service in about May/June 1999, together with 645. 644 was sold to Ashdown Forest in East Sussex to replace the ex-West Sussex IIB Forward Control MPX 887J. According to the original purchaser, 645 was sold to EniChem in Fawley, Hants. 644 was damaged in a forest fire and was, I think, an insurance write-off. It was replaced by an ex-East and West Sussex 109 from Crowborough. 645 as you rightly say went to the Bluebell Railway, just a few miles from Ashdown Forest.
