Rear end view of Cleveland's experimental ET at Teesside Airport showing the extending rear body sections. One vehicle was built from this prototype, but it was unsuccessful, and it underwent a substantial rebuild into a Control Unit.

This particular vehicle was constructed as a Polytechnic project, and was in fact on a Dennis F108 chassis - ADC 999K to be precise. This vehicle passed into Cleveland in 1974, and the theory of the extending body was in fact used on that which was H49 KVN - a Dennis DFS237. Since the operation of the extension was found to be to slow, H49 KVN was rebuilt by a local concern as a fully rigid appliance, and is now the brigade dedicated CSU.
