Dennis F8 1954
One for Petros, this Dennis F8 was initially based at Leytonstone in East London in the pre GLC days. It was then transferred to Royden and then on to Leaden Roding where it spent many years in service. It then moved on to training duties and eventually became part of the Essex Fire Museum fleet. It is preserved in it's original form and is often out at events promoting Fire Safety and the Essex Fire Museum.

Like many of its contemporaries this F8 originally had semaphore indicators but now sports the retrofitted flashers. Although only a detail, it does compromise the originality of the truck, presumably because semaphores are now no longer legal?

The F12 I am having restored for the Phoenix Hall of Flame will have its semaphores back, but of course it will only be street legal in Arizona as a certified antique in any case. We are still not sure when it will run again but hopefully we will eventually get it drivable and pumping too….
