North Wales Volvo/Saxon Wrexham

Seen on a very dull 4th February morning.V34DRN was new to Wrexham fire station in 2000 as 1st away (W/T) pump, moving down to 2nd (W/T) pump on arrival of PN02KAK (Volvo/Saxon) in 2002.It replaced Merc/Saxon K34TCC as 3rd (Retained) appliance on arrival of PN04WKC (Volvo/Saxon).It still runs as 3rd pump at what is Wales only 3 pump station.

Hi Gary,
I believe North Wales only had 3 of these machines V34 DRN(wrexham), V35 DRN(colwyn bay), V36 DRN(prestatyn). But I believe V35 and V36 have been replaced, any ideas were these have been relocated and has V34 been replaced ?

V34DRN was replaced initially by V35 out of reserve fleet. PN05EFX (latterly at Holywell) is now on the run as Wrexham retained pump. V36 was new to Llandudno and was replaced by PN05EFV (Wrexham, then Porthmadoc) at Prestatyn. V35 was replaced by a cascaded Merc Atego at Colwyn Bay. V48EUX was the only other V plate WrL, this served its career at Caernarfon. All V regs are on spare duties now. Hope this helps

V48 EUX initially was allocated to Hoyhead replacing Mercedes-Benz 1124F/Saxon M526AEY which was reallocated to Tywyn replacing Dodge G12/Carmichael WrL GCC335Y.

Never saw V48 at Holyhead, why the Shropshire reg Andrew? Also, do you have any pics of rear or knowledge of BA storage for my Dodge (D884UCC) especially what rear warnings other than buckey beacon.

There was talk about the new 61 plate volvos having the ba sets located in the rear lockers instead of the rear cabs

Dont know, but that would be a retrograde step surely? Back to 70's, preventing, protecting and ....hold on we got to get BA's out of locker and put em on, Health and Safety dont you know! Havent heard this one, everyone I seen has them in the well designed crewcab (and its rare for me to praise a modern design). Wheel small on FLL so they skate a bit, apparently.
