Seddon Atkinson F886KRG Cleveland.
This Environmental Protection Unit was a former Brewery Dray. It was acquired from Vaux in 1997 and converted in house at the Brigade workshops. It entered service at Stranton as India 8 in April 99, and was replaced with a new Volvo in 2003.

This was my dad's truck when it was a dray at Vaux
breweries. Does anyone have any idea if it still survives?

Baz: It was one of only a handful of Seddon Atkinsons ever used in fire services.
These brewery dray bodies were however very popular in America a few years ago, because the whole truck could be opened up very quickly and access to all the equipment carried was very easy.
They were especially popular for rescue trucks, air tenders, salvage rigs, lighting and ventilation trucks, collapse and shoring units and foam tenders.
The American chassis used included Freightliner, Ford, GMC, International, Mack and Sterling.

In some ways it looks like a forerunner of the now very popular equipment trucks in widespread use in Germany. These also use a variety of pre- loaded wire baskets with a very wide range of alternative supplies and equipment, and can be loaded according to the items needed at a particular incident. The main difference is that the baskets are all on wheels, are a standard size and are loaded and unloaded from the rear using a powered lift gate.
