As stated by Herbie in his photo picture 21471 the two Range Rovers were originally used to tow the CU and CIU. Here Rhyl are calling in at Deeside fire station with their ensemble in 1981.

I understand that the former Holyhead Range Rover TEY 170L was relegated to towing duties, what did she tow? And where is she now?

My name is Paul Cunningham, and I used to do the driver training with the Range Rover and Control Unit attached to it, also the C.I.U. that was at Deeside, then they changed it to a Commer, and I also did the driver training on that. Later they mounted both units and they were towed by a purpose built vehicle. I was an instructor in Training Dept then

778 may also have been at Westland helicopters - see picture 18473. Looks like 778 to me.
