SAP201 has now been safely delivered back to East Sussex, and work should start on the restoration in the new year. After several years outside she looks in fair condition, apart from some rust on the front. Mechanically I'm not sure. I know SAP serverd with East Sussex and was at Wadhurst in 1971, and have found a log book that is dated from July 1989 to July 1993, when it seems she was based as the works appliance for Courtaulds Chemicals (Manchester?) If anyone has any further information or pictures, so I can piece together the history please get in touch.

SAP 201 transferred to West Sussex F.B.1/4/1974, ran as a spare. I rode on it a few times at Chichester, disposal 1976. I understood it was at Rye, prior to transfer, a poor replacement for a Dennis. Have the dates when I rode it.
Many thanks Martyn, that helps fill in more of the history. SAP201 was only at Wadhurst until 1971 at the latest. I wonder if anyone else recalls her in West Sussex, or has pictures at Chichester etc?

Michael, this appliance was already a spare with East Sussex when it was transfered in 1974 to West Sussex on county boundary changes, it was said to be a pig to drive.East Sussex at that time were pushing their unwanted rubbish onto West Sussex and for a short time it operated I beleave at one of the stations that transfered over into West Sussex, but unsure which one. I don't think it was a WSFB(Post-1974)operational appliance on a station after boundary changes for very long though, I beleave it more or less went straight into the reserve fleet as a spare appliance. The appliance still showed up on the Fleet Register from 1975 as a spare and operated in this roll(although it wasn't very popular with crews)until 1976, it was then I beleave disposed of. Sorry, I cannot help with photo's of this one.
Pete, thanks for the reply, this all helps me build up a picture of SAP's working life. It sounds like I could be in for a challenge when she's back on the road then!

As previously stated this applaince when with West Sussex was a spare, and was not allocated to any former East Sussex station, even for a short time, and went for disposal in 1976.
