ex Rescue Tender Leyland CometThis Leyland Comet was new to the National Coal Board Mines Rescue Service and was one of five in service in the North East coalfields area. New in 1954 with bodywork by Wilson & Stockall of Bury, Lancs and carried a crew of 6. As well as the usual Proto BA sets the unit also carried Brown-Mills Aerophor Liquid Oxygen BA
Firefighting equipment was stored in external lockers as the MRS attended fires in the residential areas of the collieries.
