Battalion 6 would be a Chief's Vehicle, Engine 16 is pretty much self explanatory, (see picture), Amb 10 is Ambulance 10. These are all located in a 4 bay firehouse.

Battalion Chief - North America - has charge of a group of fire-engines - either at a station, or at a group of stations [obviously, big city, or big county] administratively, or on the fire-scene. Obviously, of military origin. Similar title is District Chief.
British equivalent seems to be (new) Watch/Station/Group Manager or ; (old) Station Officer or Assistant Divisional Officer.....
