1977 Ford/Willowbrook/Anglo Control Unit(CU7)which was new to the brigade in 1977 and was based at Headquarters,Lambeth on the banks of the Thames. It attended all eight pump fires and over, plus where ever it might be needed,e.g.large chemical incidents/major rail/air/road crashes, etc, and attended all over the Greater London area. The appliance went out of service in 1986 and straight into preservation and is still as far as I know still in preservation today.I've seen it and photographed it on many occasions in recent years at various rallies/shows.

Thanks Morgan, yes I knew Simon owned it,he bought it when it went out of service back in 1986,but although I've seen Simon on many occasions at shows/rallies in the last few years,I've not seen this appliance.I'm glad to know though it might still be around, shame we don't see it much now.

I was an Engineer at (Central Workshops Lambeth). This Control unit saw good service. But it was a regular visitor to the workshops. There were many issues with it's Puematic Aerial control system. This was due to a design faults. I personally didn't think it was a very nice vehicle to drive.
Does anybody know what happened to FT 10? It was a Foam Tender based at ELTHAM / E30. I have not been able to find any photos of this unit? It was manufactered by (CHUBB FIRE). It was still in service around 1983. Any info please?
Don't worry, I've still got CU7 and it's been out and about a few times since it went into storage more than 10 years ago! I've been under pressure to put it back on the road and it made its return to the rally field at last year's Odiham Fire Rally. Since then Jethro of Wessex Fire & Rescue and Pat Northway gave it a good clean up and Pat took it to the Wessex Cancer Run from Southampton to Paultons Park where it was parked alongside the other famous ex London (& Lincolnshire) command unit (BCU1), Volvo B10M / Spectra R131 KGH, that is now owned by Wessex F&RS (I'll send a photo of the pair together).
In response to Paul's query, I haven't seen the Unipower / Chubb FT10 OUV 390R since I took a photo of it in a line of appliances (for disposal?) at Ruislip workshops on March 1st 1991. I also photographed it at the back of Southwark in the late 1980s - I'll scan a picture and send it when time allows.
Paul, if you give me your E- mail address, I will send you a photo of FT10. I cannot post it, as it is not my copyright. FT10 was a favourite appliance of mine, and I remember seeing it many times, in the late 1970s and early 1980s. Eltham had a foam tender until 1991/2, but, from the late 1980s, a Dennis F108, TLO 9M, was stationed there.
I bet no one as a photograph showing the top of this vehicle they could share please?. Its maybe for a future modelling project. I bet no one as a picture of the top of this vehicle they could share please?, it's for maybe a modelling project.
