LFB Escape Ladder 1983

Rear shot from an Escape Ladder.
This engine was stationed at the FS near the London Monument.

The story: I took this shot after the crew dropped me at the nearest tube station. What a memory and adventure to ride in a LFB engine for the young french student i was!!!
This would definitely never happen in Paris.

This appliance was from 1980 and was one of 48 CFE/Shelvoke+Drewry DPL's the LFB put into use during the late 1970's/early 1980's.Looks like C24 on side of appliance,if so that would have been Whitechapel's pump escape.
Jacques, thanks for sharing with us some of your old London photographs-Pete.

Great shot, Jacques, capturing near the last of the classic British wheeled escape ladders. All gone, within a few years.

I saw them, in the '70's; but didn't have the nerve to get photos....

So, thanks for sharing - and keep that Photo-Scanner running - hope it doesn't "get red-hot" !

Thankyou Jacques, I never felt these Shelvokes looked the part with an escape mounted, they lacked the classic Dennis curves that make an escape look right.

Thanks to all for the comments and participating.
My knowledge in UK fire appliances is very limited. But happy to share and revive some memories.
Scanner is running, however i also have to keep the French guys across the channel happy with their memories. That's quite an organization overall.
Cheers - JP

Jacques, when you've the time it will be nice to see a few more of your older pictures(us oldies like the oldies).Somebody can normally come up with a little information to add to a picture so you keep them coming, and we'll try and do the research work for you and add something-Pete.
