Dennis Castleford Fire station
Not quite sure of the date but it must have been late 70's or very early 80's. The picture was taken shortly before the appliance was withdrawn from service from Castleford where it spent most of it's working life if I remember rightly, firstly with the wholetime crew and then by the retained, some of which are in the picture.

Thankyou Dave, nice to see "Cass" on film! It reminds me of how much I hated the white, totally ruined a good machines looks. Paul, you aint sad, I have got my tunic and leather top boots in the barn.

Did you have the 'shoulder holster' axe sling Paul? I was the first on our station to have one.....the ADO insisted I wore my belt even though the tunic wasnt equipped for one !!!!

Cor Blimey Paul,your starting to show your old age mate,mind you I think I've still got my old black leggings and old black cork fire helmet somewhere.You think your sad,have a little pity on us real oldies then mate.Where real sad.

Barrie, I joined as a retained fireman in 1977 and our brigade had just stopped carrying axes. How times change I'm now wholetime and trialing new helmets for our brigade. Pete and John I still have my first Cromwell cork helmet too.
