Barrie, when the appliance was in service, would the turntable assembly and jacks have been that colour do you know, thanks,,?

Is that a worm-gear assembly, that elevates this Magirus TTL (Aerial Ladder) ?

And, it looks to be all hand-powered....

This is PVP665 built 1954 for Birmingham. According to the recent edition of Fire Cover (#204) she went out of service in the mid 1970s and ended up in Wrexham North Wales with a tree lopping service (I have a poor photo from that time which I shall post). She eventually passed to the Aston Manor Transport Museum Aldridge Walsall and then stored at a farm near Uttoxeter (as in this photo). It is now to be restored. It seems the turret was always green surprisingly.

My father has pictures of this vehicle in the period that It was taken from the treecare service to the Aston Museum. He purchased it from the treecare service at a field in Wrexham in the late 80's and has pictures of when he bought it. He then later sold it to the museum for the apprentice mechanics to use. Does anyone know where abouts in uttoxeter this is located?

The ladder is the older mechanical single screw design first introduced on an all steel ladder in 1931 and superseded by the hydraulic type in 1959. During the war years these were painted green for the German fire service, and this ladder may have been originally intended for them. Otherwise I can see no reason for it to have been delivered in this shade of green!
