Hey Peter,

Looks like you are well on with the restoration! Well done! It's a long time since Dennis's Dennis in the Flesh!

Hey Peter, if you need a hand to chuck up them escapes, just give me a hoy! The last time I was on the four-man crew for that little morning exercise, there's some rumours we dropped it on the Brigade Secretary's car!!

Hi Peter, 2 very nice photos showing lots of details. Tell me why is the fly on F24 lowered. I am from Melbourne, Australia, and the M.F.B. ran 5 P.E. into the 1990's and always ran with lowered flys on them, but I've never seen that in the U.K. before.

Parvel / Graham, thanks for the comments.
The levers on the Bailey escape are lowered due to the low headroom of ther shed door (levers being slightly higher than the head of the ladder. I had to do the same on the Merryweather escape too. The Bailey needs 5 people to slip it, but I can do the Merryweather steel escape on my own as it's only half a ton!

Hi Peter, thought that may be the reason with the Bailey Escape. I mentioned the last Pump Escapes in the M.F.B. could be slipped and reloaded by 1 person hydraulically. I wrote a report with photographs for the F.B.S. in Fire Cover No.124, Autumn 1993 you might find interesting.
