Hi Andreas
Thanks for sharing the two photos of this Canadian Military Pattern Chevrolet fire truck. It's interesting to me that a few have survived in Europe in fire service. I think the Netherlands has a handful and are truly unique. As this is a long wheelbase model I wonder if you know if it was originally a fire truck or made up locally. Thanks again.

Yes Bob, there were many "dump" trucks in Holland after the war, some are preserved but only a shorter wheelbase.
Will dig into my photos and post them to the site in due time.

Happy to hear that Fire995 will be sharing some of the Canadian Military pattern CMP trucks from the Netherlands, and I hope that he can join in the discussion concerning trucks left after the British Fire Convoy returned to England after the war.
Thanks,

Fire995, looking forward to your photos of these war-time Chevrolet 4x4 trucks.

They were Gun Tractors, hauling a Limber and the legendary 25-pounder Field Gun, amongst other roles.

As a kid, in snowy Quebec - I remember their "homely" looks - post-WW-2; popular for Snow-Plows, and Tow-Trucks, with the Holmes Booms. Only remember the short wheel-base - was this truck lengthened locally ?

Thanks, for bringing back the memories of a great old truck.

Chief Brian Edwards (NZ), do you still have snaps of our old Quad from the Henderson VFB to post on this site, thanks, all mine are boxed somewhere in NZ, ,

Likely manufactured pre-1941; as 1941 onwards, these Canadian Military Pattern trucks had the Type 13 Wind-Shield, which were tilted forward.
