Andreas; Canadian Military Pattern truck - over 400, 000 were manufactured in Canada, by co-operating Chevrolet and Ford manufacturing plants, in World War 2.

Originally, British Army specifications for the world-wide British Commonwealth - hence the Right-Hand Drive(Canada & USA Left-Hand Drive); the "pug-nose" Cab Forward design for efficiency, and, easy loading and stowage on board ships; after 1941, the Type 13 Cab -2 flat wind-shields tilted slightly forward to prevent reflections that could be seen by hostile aircraft.

War-time, and post-war: these trucks, and their chassis' (for Armoured Cars, etc) went all over the world. Over 200, 000 made were the 3-ton (GB 60 hundred-weight) truck (GB lorry).

In peace-time - popular as grain-trucks for farmers, forestry trucks for working in the wood-lands, snow-ploughs, tow-trucks, dump-trucks in construction work; and, yes, Fire-Trucks.

Andreas and Pat, great photos and great commentary, these magnificent beasts saw service as fire tankers, etc, right across the length and breath of the 'land of the long white cloud' - Aotearoa (New Zealand), , "Haere Ra"
