ADC999K is the experimental 'Clevelander' ET. designed by the Brigade and Teesside polytechnic. The design was unsuccessful, with only one built. (H49KVN now rebuilt into a CU at Stranton in Hartlepool) Several viewers might recognise themselves in the background!

Chris: I have looked at this contraption with its slide- out rear section, without being able to see any point to it. I can't see that it offered any extra storage space or improved access to anything, and all this extra bodywork must have added extra weight, especially to the rear axle.

Does anyone have any idea what this bizarre configuration was trying to achieve?
