This appliance was new to the Western Area Fire Brigade in 1970 - it was the last wheeled-escape carrying fire appliance ordered by a Scottish fire brigade -and it was stationed at Port Glasgow. It passed to the newly formed Strathclyde Fire Brigade in 1975 and in the same year it was transferred to F23 Rothesay on the Isle of Bute where it stayed until 1981 when it joined the brigade reserve fleet in 'E'Division. It then became a demonstration appliance at B6 Cambuslang and was taken over by the brigade's Preservation Group in 1995. Bob Wright would be able to provide more details - the group's website is: www.ayeready.org

Very unusual to say the least to have a monitor fitted to an escape ladder

The monitor was fitted by Bob Wright once the machine went into Preservation, it never had one whilst in service.
