Historical hand-painted picture.MFB Museum,Melbourne Vic.
This brilliant photograph was taken by a very dear old friend and old workmate of mine(Trevor Hanson)
who emigrated to New Zealand the beginning of 2008,and lived for a while in Christchurch.
Trevor and his family are now traveling through Australia.Melbourne in Victoria now,then moving on down
into Adelaide in South Australia,and then onto Sydney in New South Wales for Christmas.
The picture shows the history of the Metropolitan Fire Brigade in Melbourne from its early days,up to the
present day and the painting actually hangs on the wall of the MFB Museum in Melbourne,Victoria.
To really appreciate this picture,copy and zoom-in on it,it really is quiet brilliant.
Pictures of some of the appliances in the MFB Fire Museum will follow.I'm also hoping for some more.

Pavel, I've been intouch with Trevor(my old work mate)who's travelling around
Australia(YOUR COUNTRY)at the moment but he as no more information on that picture, but the boys in the MFB Museum gave him an E.Mail address(which I now have)and I'll get intouch and see what info I can get.Get back to you-OK.

Pavel, just received this information from the MFB Museum in Victoria having
E.Mailed them this week, E.Mail address was wrong what my mate Trevor sent?.
The information is as follows:-The artist was Robert Home, he is an artist
as well a firefighter.The picture was commissioned for the centenary of the
Metropolitan Fire Brigade(Victoria)in 1991.
In 1992 it was passed onto the MFB Museum in Melbourne on permanent loan.
Thanks to the Fire Services Museum of Victoria Inc for this information.

Pavel me old mate, sorry looking very closely at the E.Mail from the MFB
Museum I think the name is HORNE, not HOME.The artist was Robert Horne.
The r was very close to n which made it look like an m.....sorry, Pete.

From my understanding, Robert Horne was a Station Officer with MFB before leaving the job to become a full time artist. He has also portrayed himself in the painting, all the way to the right in a yellow helmet holding the Cutters.

Thanks for the information Blair, I'm sure if Robert Horne's changed his
job to become a full-time artist, he'll do well looking at this painting.

Hi Pavel Have you found Robert Horne yet? We were on shift together for a few years, while he was painting it. In fact he came to my retirement 31years. On the 17 november 2009.
