Lincolnshire New Man Appliance

One of the 33 New 57 Plate MAN TG-M 18.240 4X2 appliances with Zeigler bodywork. The engine is a MAN Euro 4, 176Kw (240bhp) 6 cylinder with EGR and auxiliary engine brake. The gearing is a MAN ‘Tip-Matic’ 12-speed automated transmission and its pump is a Rear-mounted Ziegler FPN2000/10HH, fire pump compliant with EN1028, mechanically driven from the PTO and rated to deliver 2000 litres per minute at 10 bars when operating through a 3.0m suction lift.

The above appliance BV57GOJ is a WrL based at Waddington retained station. The difference between the WrL and the WrL/R is that in the water ladder there is only a set of basic spreaders in a locker which is half empty where as the WrL/R has rams and more powerfull spreaders in the same locker. This allows the extra equipment to be able to be slotted in without having to re-arrange locker layouts. enabling a simple 5 minute swap to change from a WrL to a WrL/R.

Why not run every appliance as a WrL/R? :S

Hello,
a nice picture of the WrL and its lockers. Could you specify what kind of spreaders is carried by the WrLs? Is it still the Hurst combi tool or a proper spreader and perhaps cutter? By the way the bodywork is by Ziegler not Zeigler, see the rear mudguard.

best wishes

It seems a bit daft to exclude heavy rescue gear from some appliances, when there is locker space for it. RTAs are an ever growing aspect of the job-why not have every pumper equipped for them?

Is this an Assetco appliance?
