1941 Fordson 7V Heavy Unit (reg GJJ 12)
1941 Fordson 7V Heavy Unit (reg GJJ 12) supplied to the National Fire Service in the tradiational Battleship Grey livery as required by the Home Office during the Second World War.Its war-time history is unknown but its been fully restored and is now in presevation and owned by Mick Paull of Odiham in Hampshire-the organiser of the Odiham Fire Show.This photograph was taken at the show in 2006,and when you think actually these appliances are now 60years old,they are a tribute to all the very keen people that spend so much time on them to preserve what is now a part of British Fire Brigade History
Through bomb and flame,they stood their ground,with just an axe,or branch in hand.
No thought for themselves,just others around,they gave so much,protecting our land.
As bomb after bomb,fell to ground,that terrible noise,that terrible sound. The young and the old,they all did their bit,those very brave firemen,sadly now many dead.
Many have gone,but will not be forgot,for all that they did,and much they could not
They all did their best,in our hour of need,those hundreds of firemen,a very brave breed.
We'll never forget them,and all that they did,to make this world better,and life better to live.
God bless the many,that have sadly now gone,we shall remember them,freedom and peace cannot be wrong.

I don't know where this one was stationed within 14th Fire Force. Our HU was identical with license plate GJJ5. You are right in that little has been put together concerning NFS equipment; Firebrace's book tells the how and why but has no illustrations; the Fire Brigade Society in your country put out a small and useful booklet several years ago; if you have put together a book(you've alluded to one) I wish there was some way of obtaining its title. I put together a synopsis of the NFS' vehicles for our California historic fire vehicle group- SPAAMFAA and could send a copy if there was a way of knowing howw to reach you.
